Willa Gibbs is a gifted, accomplished writer, researcher and author.
This is my personal search for a talented, underrated, poetically beautiful writer and a truly remarkable woman.
I could find very little information on Miss Gibbs and her novels.
It is my mission to scour the internet, archives and all available sources, to compile every possible shred of information.
If you have any additional information on Miss Gibbs, please feel free to contact me.

Family Life

Willa was born September 25, 1917, in a tavern in the remote town of Hanna, Alberta, Canada. Her parents, Guy Vernon Gibbs, an attorney born March 4, 1891 Dunnigan, Yolo, California and mother, Estella G. Harris, born April 23, 1877 Tulare, California had moved from Yolo County to Hanna on March 25, 1917, reasons unknown (source US Consular Registration Applications, 1916-1925). Willa's only other sibling, Guy Vernon Jr. was born June 22, 1914 in Winters, California before the family moved to Canada.
Guy Vernon Sr. died January 6, 1919. Records dispute whether he died in Canada or California. In the federal census 1920, Willa, Guy Jr. and Estella are back living in Woodland, Yolo, California in the household of Estella's mother, Luella E. (Woody) Harris, also a widow, born December 15, 1868 in Missouri.
Also, in 1930, Willa, Guy Jr. and Estella are living with Luella in Woodland, along with Estella's sister, Alpha Mae (May 1891-June 26, 1981)and her daughter Althea M. Draper. Alpha is also a widow.
Willa's brother, Guy, marries Patricia E. Farrell.
Willa's grandmother, Luella E. Woody Harris' parents are John Harrison Woody (1841-1922) and Hester Elizabeth "Hetty" Wills (1844-1927), possibly. I need to research this further.
